Website Design for Businesses That Live on the Phone
Most of the websites we build are for people who answer their own phone: plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, painters, fencers, arborists, concrete and earthworks contractors, and the service businesses around them. That shapes how we design. A trade website has one job - to turn someone searching for the work you do into a call or an enquiry - so every page is built around that, from the click-to-call number in the header to the service pages that match the terms people actually type into Google.
We have built more than 1,200 websites since 2015 and we still run most of them, which means we see what works across hundreds of trades and regions rather than guessing. Our portfolio shows the range. Where a site needs to rank, our SEO Auckland team plans the page structure before a line of design is drawn, and where a client wants leads from day one we run Google Ads alongside the launch.

What Every Website Includes
There is no basic package with the important things left out. Every build ships with the full set.
| Included | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Mobile-first design | Well over half of trade website visits come from a phone. The site is designed for a thumb first and a desktop second, and tested on real devices before launch. |
| Service pages that match searches | One page per service you want work for, written around the terms customers type, with the suburbs and regions you serve named on the page. |
| Click-to-call and enquiry forms | Your number in the header on every page, a form that reaches your inbox and your phone, and spam protection that does not make customers solve puzzles. |
| SEO foundation | Clean URL structure, correct headings, page titles and descriptions, LocalBusiness and FAQ schema, XML sitemap, Search Console and Google Analytics set up and verified. |
| Speed | Optimised images, caching and fast New Zealand hosting. Google measures page speed on every visit, and so do your customers. |
| Security | SSL certificate, hardened WordPress configuration, daily backups and monitored updates. |
| Google Business Profile alignment | Name, address and phone matched exactly to your Google Business Profile so your local rankings are not undermined by mismatched details. |
| Review link and process | A short review link you can text to customers after a job, so the site and your Google profile keep earning stars. |
| Hosting, maintenance and minor updates | We keep the site running, patched and backed up, and make small content changes for you as part of the monthly plan. |
| Your ownership | Domain in your name, full access if you ever want it, and an honest export if you ever leave. |
Most of our web design clients are trades. If that is you, our websites for tradies page covers the specifics - emergency pages, licence details, job galleries and the rest.
The Pages a Trade Website Needs
A surprising number of trade websites are one long home page with a phone number at the bottom. Google cannot rank a single page for twenty different services, and a customer looking for one specific job will not scroll to find it. The structure we build for almost every trade is simple and it works:
- Home - who you are, what you do, where you do it and the number, in the first screen.
- One page per service - re-roofing, roof repairs and spouting are three searches, so they are three pages.
- Service area pages - the suburbs and towns you cover, each with its own page where the volume justifies it.
- About - the people, the years, the qualifications and the insurance. This is the page nervous customers read.
- Gallery or projects - real job photos, captioned with the job and the suburb, because that is what proves you can do the work.
- Reviews - your Google reviews pulled onto the site and a link that makes leaving one easy.
- Contact - number, form, hours and the areas you serve, with the form reaching your phone as well as your inbox.
- Guides - answers to the questions you get asked on every quote, which is what Google and AI search now surface.
Redesigns, Migrations and Keeping Your Rankings
If you already have a website that ranks, a redesign is a migration, not a fresh start. Before we touch anything we read what every existing page ranks for in Search Console, keep every URL that earns traffic or redirect it to its exact equivalent, and check the old sitemap against the new one before launch. Done properly, a redesign keeps the visibility you have paid years to build and adds to it. Done casually, it can cost a business half its enquiries overnight, and we have been called in to repair exactly that.
We also take over sites built by other agencies, move them onto our hosting and bring them up to standard without a rebuild where that is the better value. If your current provider holds your domain or your login, we deal with that too; our guide on who owns your website, domain and hosting explains what to ask for.
What Decides the Price of a Website
Websites start from $1,295 + GST, with hosting and maintenance a small monthly amount on top. We quote every site as a fixed price before work starts, and the quote is driven by a handful of things you can see coming: how many service and area pages there are, whether you have photos and copy or need us to produce them, whether the site needs bookings, quoting tools or online payments, and whether an existing site has to be migrated with its rankings intact. A standard trade website with a home page, six to ten service pages, a gallery, an about page and a contact page is the most common job we do, and it is priced accordingly. E-commerce, membership areas and custom integrations are quoted separately and honestly - if a simpler site will do the job, we will tell you.
How a Website Project Runs
Discovery
A short call about your trade, your best jobs, the areas you cover and the competitors you keep losing to. We check what your current site ranks for so nothing is lost.
Structure and copy
We map the pages to the searches that matter and draft the copy. You get it in plain language to correct - you know your trade better than we do.
Design and build
The site is built on WordPress with your branding and real job photos. You review it on a private preview link on your own phone.
Launch and measure
DNS, SSL, redirects, Search Console, Analytics and call tracking are all set up on launch day, and we confirm the enquiry form by sending the first message through it ourselves.

Why Auckland Trades Choose Click n Call
We are a small Auckland team that has done this more than a thousand times. You deal with the people who build and look after your site, not an account layer, and we quote a fixed price up front with no lock-in contract.
Because we also run SEO, Google Ads and social advertising for many of the same clients, the website is built to work with those channels from the start - landing pages, call tracking and conversion measurement are part of the design, not an afterthought.

Website Design FAQs
How much does a website cost in Auckland?
Our websites start from $1,295 + GST. Every website is quoted as a fixed price before any work starts, based on the number of pages and what the site has to do. A brochure site for a trade or service business costs a fraction of what a custom e-commerce build does, and we tell you which one you need rather than selling you the bigger one. Hosting and maintenance are a small monthly amount on top, with no lock-in.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most business websites are live within three weeks of receiving your content and images. Larger or highly customised projects take longer, and we tell you the timeline before you commit.
What platform do you build websites on?
Mostly WordPress, for its flexibility, SEO capability and the fact that you are never locked into one agency. Over 40 percent of the web runs on it, so any developer can work on your site later if you ever want them to. For businesses that want the fastest possible site, we also build static websites on Cloudflare with a simple dashboard for enquiries and contact details.
Will my website rank on Google?
Every site ships with the technical SEO foundation in place: clean structure, correct headings, fast loading, schema markup and a submitted sitemap. New sites usually appear in Google within a week. Ranking for competitive terms takes ongoing SEO work, which we offer separately and explain honestly.
Do I own my website and domain?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name, the site is yours, and if you ever move on we export and package everything for you. We publish a guide on this: who owns your trade website, domain and hosting.
Do you look after the website after launch?
Yes. Hosting, security updates, backups and plugin maintenance are handled for you, and minor content updates are included. Bigger changes are quoted before we do them.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. Redesigns keep every URL that currently ranks, or redirect it properly, so you do not lose the Google visibility you have built. We audit the old site in Search Console before we start.
What do I need to supply?
Your logo, photos of real jobs, a list of the services you want to be found for, and the areas you cover. If you have no photos we work with what you have and swap in job photos as you take them. We write or tidy the copy.
